A search of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s online database shows that on May 20, Anheuser-Busch filed applications to trademark: “704” (Charlotte, N.C.), “216” (Cleveland), “214” (Dallas), “303” (Denver), “713” (Houston), “702” (Las Vegas), “305” (Miami), “615” (Nashville, Tenn.), “215” (Philadelphia), “602” (Phoenix), “412” (Pittsburgh), “619” (San Diego), “415” (San Francisco), “314” (St. Louis) and “202” (Washington).

It appears that based on the success of Goose Island’s 312 beer, parent company Anheuser-Busch is exploring the idea of taking the “beer named after your local area code” thing national.

My Thoughts:

I just hope that they decide to make those craft beverages brewed in the actual city that the area code represents. If you drink Goose Island Beers a lot in the past, you might be able to have noticed a slight change in taste. This is because many of the former brewmasters have left and some of the beer is being produced elsewhere. It saddens me that this has happened but congrats to them for making such a name for themselves that it is wanted to in large quantities. Now if only quality mattered as much as making loot.

NYT writing about Search: Are they Anti Google?

I am all for more information and insight being presented to general public about Search Engines and Google.  However, it appears that all the NYT wants to do is consistently write articles about how it gets it wrong.

This current article entitled “Lead Gen Sites Pose Challenge to Google - the Haggler and many of the other articles written by David Segal appear written to make consumers concerned scared about the whole thing. The five articles he has written about Search Engines all come off with a negative slight specifically toward Google. It is worth noting that he never mentions Bing/Yahoo that holds the other 30% of search.

I do not know David Segal or want to question his ethics but after reading articles such  about Facebook attempting to use PR firm  to Plant articles against Google. I am noticing that this trend might have been succesful.

Just a thought and a bit of rambling after a bit of evening reading

Start Small: Making Big change Happen In Your Life

Usually Matt Cutts  is someone who I look to find out information about Google and search engine optimization but this time he brings me something more usual to my life.

I really liked this video and am going to take it to heart. I am now trying to figure out what my 30 day challenge will be. I know my good friend Ernest Wilkins has tried this before and it started with dressing nicely for a month. He did it for the month and has become an overall more dapper gentlemen.

I’m considering what my 30 day challenge will be. If we really want to make a change you can do it.

What will your 30 day challenge be?

This is a great graph info-graph showing how important recomendations are versus advertisements.

People still have a large fear over where or who the product is coming from when purchasing online.  Google had already realized how much recommendations from people known is and added Google+ originally to show search results from your friends. Additionally, Google has long been adding consumer reviews to Google places accounts to help build trust as well. You can do a couple of things to help yourself with this issue.

The one good thing for online brands and companies to notice is that consumer opinions posted online and Brand Websites share the second highest levels of trust. This means that if you are able to build a strong brand and continue to get customers as thought leaders you will be able to prosper.

A solid process of reaching out to customers and effectively promoting your brand can really be effective in making your site known and people to praise your good name across the web.  An incentive system to past and current customers is one way that you can continue to harness the power of your online community to post reviews.

Additionally, “Super Customers” ones that have strongest connection with your brand are often able to push the word about your company thru social media most often this is seen via Twitter.

Hopefully your work in delivering quality service will allow you to harness the power of your customers
